| Dear Friends:
Thank
you for visiting the website of Vocations for
the Diocese of Reno. Our God is not only our maker
and creator, but in his love for each one of us
calls us to ministry and service as we walk the
journey of life. Since each one of us is special
and unique, He has given us those talents and
gifts that will aid us in the particular ministry
that He wants us to undertake. For some this is
a special call to serve Him as a priest, sister
or brother.
If you believe the Lord might
be calling you to serve Him as a priest, sister
or brother, we invite your inquiry and are willing
to discuss with you a calling to priesthood or
religious life.
I particularly invite those who
are interested in being a diocesan priest and
serving in a missionary diocese. The Diocese of
Reno covers all of Northern Nevada. This includes
serving two parishes in the Lake Tahoe area, the
metropolitan area of Reno, Sparks and Carson City
and rural parishes such as Winnemucca and Elko.
Nevada is on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada
mountains and is called the desert, but it is
a very wonderful and beautiful desert area with
a dry climate and enjoys the four seasons. Having
been here myself since 1995, out of southern California,
it is neither too hot nor too cold. But most important
is the wonderful challenge of ministry that the
Lord affords us here to proclaim the good news
and to minister in His name.
Your inquiries are welcome! The
Lord may be calling you to serve him in Northern
Nevada.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Reverend Phillip F. Straling
Retired Bishop, Diocese of Reno |
